Join us as we collect new and gently used coats for Brownsville students, because we want all of our Bees to be very warm this winter. Look for the SignUp Genius to be shared at the kickoff of this event, as it will tell you what size coats are needed and allow you to sign up for those you wish to donate.
Get ready for lots of colorful, healthy family fun! All Brownsville students and their families are invited to the Bee Healthy Color Fun Run. Come ready to get messy because every lap is rewarded with a splash of color chalk! Healthy snacks and refreshments will be provided.
Families in Motion
ALL Brownsvillle students and their families are invited to come together for an evening of family, fitness and fun!! Families will rotate among various activites such as Zumba, a mini boot camp, an obstacle course, pure barre, yoga, and more. Most stations will be lead by Brownsville parents who work as fitness professionals in the community.
Family Kickball Day
Get ready to get your game faces on for Family Kickball Day! We’ve reserved the field and we’re practicing our kickball strategy because, Kids, we’re taking you on! That’s right, parents … It’s Grown-ups vs. Kids kickball.
The second annual Hive Jive is a FREE event open to all Brownsville families. We’ll provide the tunes, basketballs, jump ropes and some light refreshments, so all you’ll need to do is to put on your dancing shoes and let your spirit move you. Casual to Cocktail…rock out in your ripped-knee jeans or get another night’s wear out of that special occasion outfit. Dress up, Dress Down, just come ready to dance. Gym is also open for kids to run around and play. Don’t forget your basketball shoes dads because this year will be our first “Dads Free Throw Contest.”
Go and play before the big first day! All rising Kindergartners and their parents/caregivers are invited to a playdate right before the new school year begins. It’s a great morning of getting to know one another and FUN! The best part is the kids will be able to see some familiar faces on their first day of Kindergarten.
Kindness In Chalk
Kindness in Chalk is a nationwide positivity campaign that occurs annually during October, National Bullying Awareness Month. Early in the morning parents/caregivers meet at the front entrance of Brownsville to spread kindness by covering the sidewalks of school grounds with positive words, phrases, quotes, and images that speak of love, peace, hope, and acceptance. We hope to bring smiles to the kids’ faces and inspire them to pay a beautiful act of kindness forward.
This event occurs around the end of September. Bee families can bring a blanket, picnic dinner, and join the Brownsville community on a Friday night to take in a family movie under the stars. It is a great opportunity to take a break from the hectic start of the school year and ease into fall with a fun community activity. Volunteers are needed for the day of the movie, usually between 10-18 people, with a Signup Genius link being sent out just after Labor Day.
Newcomers Picnic – Aug. 15, 2018
We recognize that it can be scary to dive into a new school, so we host a Newcomers Picnic shortly before the new school year begins. This special event offers an opportunity to meet other new families and “Buddy Families” of the Brownsville community before school begins! A picnic dinner will be provided. Please sign up here to let us know you’re attending.
Staff Appreciation Week
During the first week of May, we celebrate Staff Appreciation Week. This is a time where we can show the BES Staff our love. Each day of the week, different treats are given to our staff by the families of students in specific grades; in this way, we are able to involve all families that wish to participate, and make sure that the BES staff knows how much they are appreciated.
The Variety Show is organized in the early spring, and showcases the many unique talents of our Bees. From music and comedy to poetry and science experiments, the variety show celebrates all the different passions that make up our hive. Tryouts (where everyone makes it) begin early in the school year with mandatory practices following. An evening performance is given for families, followed by a school day performance for the students.
